An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) for HCPC registered Therapeutic Radiographers to join our friendly team to deliver a high quality of care. At UHS we have a large team of radiographers (over 60 clinical radiographers and assistants) delivering high quality radiotherapy treatment to over 2800 cancer patients each year. The role involves the day to day care and treatment of patients on a unit, providing patient centred, safe and accurate delivery of treatment. ABOUT THE TEAM UHS, provides highly specialised radiotherapy treatments for a variety of tumour sites at both the main site in Southampton (6 Elekta Linear Accelerators- 2 with ExacTrac imaging, Hexapod 6DF couches and FFF, 1 Ortho voltage machine, 2 Planning CT scanners with 4D capability and a full brachytherapy service) and a satellite site based at Basingstoke (1Elekta linear accelerator, 1X planning CT scanner). The centre covers a tertiary referral catchment area for Neuro-oncology, Total Body Irradiation and Stereotactic services (SRS/SABR). The post holder will be responsible for radiotherapy pre-treatment and delivery as part of a team within the radiotherapy department. The normal department working hours include shifts: 0700-2000 (Monday-Saturday) The Trust has a commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice through the provision of regular in-house training courses, access to external courses as well as regular supervision sessions, peer-support meetings and staff appraisal. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Deliver radiotherapy treatment using available equipment, under the supervision of Band 6 Radiographers. * Calculate and record radiotherapy treatments accurately, and maintain written records. * Be responsible for the well-being and care of patients during the course of their radiotherapy. * Maintain all treatment records to department standards WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * Enthusiastic individuals with a Degree in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma of College of Radiographers * State Registration with the HCPC * Excellent written and verbal English language skills * Experience of a wide variety of Radiotherapy techniques & equipment. * Ability to communicate with wide range of people. * Ability to work as a team member. * Ability to work under own initiative. * Be able to take instruction / directions and work within the confines of the role WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU As one of the largest acute teaching Trust's in England, we can offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.
