Neath Port Talbot Council - HOUSING OPTIONS OFFICER Location: NEATH CIVIC CENTRE, Neath Port Talbot, SA11 3QZ Contract: Initial Month-long cover but has potential to go on for longer Hours : Full Time 37 Hours a Week / Monday to Friday / 9:00am - 5:00pm Payrate: £12 - £13 an Hour This post requires a satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure Description: Experienced Housing Options officer needed short term to cover absence. Caseload will be carried for applicants both in temporary accommodation and in other forms of unsecure housing. In depth knowledge and experience of Housing Wales Act is essential. Immediate start required. Post holder will be home working but this is subject to change based on changes in current situation. Key Responsibilities As required to: Receive enquiries from households who are experiencing housing difficulties and to provide relevant advice information and assistance with the aim of preventing homelessness (this will include face to face and telephone interviews, home visits and multi-agency case conferences). Be responsible for carrying out statutory investigations related to statutory homeless applications having regard to relevant legislation, Code of Guidance and identified good practice. Issue statutory decisions and notification letters Act as duty officer and be point of contact on behalf of the team. Secure appropriate interim, temporary accommodation and permanent accommodation for qualifying households. Carry out relevant needs assessments and develop Personal Housing Plans To carry out actions as identified in the Personal Housing Plans co-ordinate and deliver appropriate packages of support. Maintain accurate records of interviews and cases presented. Gain expert knowledge of the role of housing providers, tenancy support and advice agencies within the area and their contribution to the prevention of homelessness and to refer clients appropriately to identified agencies for support, advice or practical assistance. Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments, act on identified risks and to ensure compliance with all Corporate and Directorate Health and Safety Policies. Participate in supervision and appraisal sessions and to undertake personal development and training as identified. Work within policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Supporting People Programme Grant regulatory framework, including timely recording of outcomes Establish effective liaison with other agencies in both statutory and voluntary sector to best meet the needs of service users. Represent the service on identified groups and forums.
