Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our therapy team in the General Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) for 12 months fixed term position from October 2020. ABOUT THE TEAM Our General Intensive Care Unit (GICU) therapy team consists of highly skilled, innovative band 4-7 staff that work very closely with the wider MDT family on GICU. As a combined Therapy Department, employing over 200 WTE Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and B2-4 Therapy support staff, we pride ourselves on delivering high quality Therapy intervention across a wide range of acute and outpatient settings. WHAT YOU'LL DO This is a fantastic opportunity to work in Critical care with varied clinical presentations across many specialities such as Orthopaedics, Surgery, Medicine, Neurology, Cardiothoracics, and Cancer Care. The trust is a Major Trauma Centre managing some of the most complex polytrauma patients. The therapy team are very involved with many aspects of their care from admission through to discharge alongside a hugely collaborative MDT. We pride ourselves on providing a supportive working environment within which all staff are able and encouraged to develop and progress to reach their full potential. The post-holder needs to be able to work flexibly over a 7 day period (including weekends and Bank Holidays on a rota system), across varying hours from 7.30am - 8pm. They will also participate in our on call and twilight rota which alongside weekend shifts will involve working in other areas of the trust. We run regular therapy team In-service-Training, alongside critical care teaching sessions, we have an excellent support and supervision structure and there are opportunities to work with senior staff in evaluating and developing the service. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who are able to demonstrate excellent communication and problem solving skills. Who are able to work effectively within our team and the wider MDT and can evidence their involvement in service improvement, teaching and audit as well as the relevant clinical experience.
