For more on Wheelabrator, please visit www.wtienergy.co.uk Summary The jobholder is responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, testing and troubleshooting of instrumentation, controls, and electrical /electronic system at the plant to ensure these operate effectively, efficiently and safely. This role is worked on a rotating shift pattern and overtime or emergency call-out may be a requirement in order to meet operational demands. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Calibrates, tests, maintains troubleshoots and installs all plant instrumentation, control systems and electrical equipment, including awareness of DCS and communications. * Performs maintenance on motor control centres, motor operated valves, generators, excitation equipment and motors. * Performs preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on equipment, co-ordinating work with various team members. * Designs and installs new equipment and/or system modifications and understands the requirements of a change management process. * Troubleshoots and performs maintenance on backup power equipment, process controls, programmable logic controls and emission monitoring equipment. * Use of a maintenance reporting system to record time and material use, problems identified and corrected, and further action required. Provides a complete history of maintenance on equipment. * Maintains Safety Instrumented Systems technical files. * Schedules, co-ordinates, works with and monitors contractors on specific tasks as required. * Follows safe working practices at all times, identifying any safety hazards and recommending solutions. * Follows all environmental compliance work practices, identifying any environmental non-compliance problems and assisting in implementing solutions. * Assists other team members and work with all departments to support the plant in achieving its performance goals. * Trains other team members in the areas of instrumentation, control, and electrical systems. * Conducts equipment and system tagging according to Company and plant rules and regulations. * Performs equipment safety inspections as required and records results as appropriate. * Reads and interprets drawings, sketches, prints and specifications as required. * Orders parts as needed to effect maintenance and repair. * Performs any ad-hoc operational or housekeeping tasks as assigned by the EC&I Engineer. * Responds within a reasonable time to any emergency call-ins and provides acceptable off-duty cover as directed by the EC&I Engineer. * Advises shift operational staff as necessary and within their capabilities to effect repairs out of normal hours working. Supervisory Responsibilities There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this role with the exception of contractors when they are required for specialist tasks or outage work. Qualifications & Experience The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. * HNC/HND qualified in Electrical/Electronic engineering or other relevant discipline. * Minimum of 3 years' experience in electrical equipment and systems gained within power generation, renewable energies or other similar related industry. * In-depth knowledge of electrical design, maintenance, and repair issues, instrumentation/control issues, low, medium and high voltage switchgear, transformers, generators, protective relays and motor control centres Competencies * Demonstrated knowledge of electrical equipment, electronics, schematics and controls and instrumentation. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Good maths skills. * Ability to work independently and take initiative where required. * Analytical ability, enthusiastic and competent problem solver with a practical approach to solving problems. * Able to cope with numerous issues simultaneously and capable of prioritising tasks accordingly. * Fosters an environment of teamwork and co-operation. * Trains and shares expertise with others. * Maintains a positive attitude. * Manages stressful situations professionally. * Contributes to a positive team spirit and enhances plant morale. * Accepts both positive and negative constructive feedback from others and makes adjustments to performance based on such feedback. * IT literate. * Demonstrates respect and sensitivity for cultural/work style and learning style differences. * Treats people with respect. * Works ethically and with integrity at all times.
