Wakefield Council's Adult Education Service is a Good Ofsted Provider and has seen a rapid increase in the number of learners over the past 12 months and as a result we now require additional staff to work within the Business Support Team to provide effective line management to our frontline services and high quality Administration. The successful candidate will: be responsible for the day to day operational management of a team in providing a high level of customer service in our busy reception ensuring our learners, tutors, other building users and visitors are all supported and dealt with in a caring manner. manage the team to deliver effective Information, Advice and Guidance to learners and potential learners to ensure they are on the right course to meet learner's requirements. maintain an up to date knowledge of administrative functions across the team within our service and co-ordinate issues relating to the building, equipment and building management related queries and concerns. be the first point of contact for our learners ensuring all enrolment procedures are effectively managed in our centre and within other centre locations. You will also support our Volunteer and Traineeship programme. You will be working with a diverse team who puts customers at the heart of everything and being a very busy reception, you will manage the team who are responsible for the first point of contact for visitors. Your attention to detail and confident communication skills will enable you to deal independently with complex reception enquiries and requests from a wide range of customers. Your ability to anticipate problems and forward plan will ensure that the building and facilities are managed in consultation with our caretaking team which will enable centre staff, visitors and service users to work safely and effectively. You will also be required to promote and market the activities of the service, undertaking Business development activities in partnership with other local providers. The successful candidate should also have experience in cash handling, stock control and equipment management and effective recording and reconciliation of these processes including use of a MIS system. You should be a competent user of Word and Excel along with experience in other Microsoft packages such as Outlook and PowerPoint. While we ask that you should hold GCSEs we will consider other Level 2 qualifications as an alternative. You should have a minimum of Level 2 in English and Maths and an appropriate Level 2 ICT Qualification, A Level 3 in Business Administration or Careers advice and a management or Team Leading qualification would also be desirable.
