HMP Winchester is a category B men's prison for those on remand to local courts. With an operational capacity of 690, HMP Winchester is based in Winchester, Hampshire; by car it's approximately 20 minutes from Eastleigh, 25 minutes from Southampton, 30 minutes of Andover, Basingstoke and Newbury and 45 minutes from Salisbury. On foot, it's a 20 minute walk from Winchester town centre and 15 minutes' walk from Winchester train station. Care UK were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Winchester and will begin delivering services on 1st July 2020; we are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach - an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/well being factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person's care. To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Winchester, we're looking for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to support us and the existing team in this new venture. Interested in clinical development? We could give you the opportunity to develop in to a specialist role of your interest and benefit to the service i.e. CBT, ANP, BBV, sexual health, ILS (intermediate life support), health promotion, substance misuse, prescribing and long term condition. In return for your hard work you will.. The full-time role will be working 37.5 hours per week. The salary for this role is up to 44,000 FTE per annum - dependent on experience. You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You'll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service. You should possess a good working knowledge of conducting risk assessments and care planning as well as someone who is creative and forward thinking to work through the issues that may arise in this challenging but exciting environment. Knowledge in therapeutic interventions such as CBT or Steps to Wellbeing are desirable but transferable clinical skills will be considered with appropriate training provided. As a Senior Nurse you will work as part of an integrated healthcare team, utilising your clinical expertise, decision making and problem solving skills to provide skilled and evidence based nursing care for patients in the prison. You will work within your scope of practice, in accordance with Care UK and prison service policies and procedures in line with the NMC Code of professional conduct, performance and ethics for nurses and midwives. You'll be responsible for leading and developing a team providing clinical supervision to all staff.
