Job Description
Applicants are invited to apply for a full time specialty doctor in paediatric haematology/oncology commencing asap. This post is permanent. WHAT YOU'LL DO The post involves a rotation within the department caring for both inpatients and outpatients with solid tumours, leukaemia and bone marrow failure. The post is funded by University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and is comparable to other Specialist Registrar training posts within the Unit. The post-holder will have excellent opportunities for training, teaching and service development as well as exposure to general paediatrics and other tertiary paediatric specialities. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR The applicant should have some previous experience in paediatrics, but previous experience in paediatric oncology or haematology is not essential. There are no laboratory duties connected to this post. There is no on-call commitment. University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is a leading major Teaching Hospital Trust and offers excellent personal development and research opportunities. The hospital has 140 paediatric beds with over 60 paediatric consultants covering all tertiary specialities. Referrals are taken from 10 district general hospital within the region, serving a population of 2.8 to 3 million. A full general paediatric service is provided to the children of Southampton Health District which has a population of 400 000. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Specialty Doctors - England (2008) Basic Salary - MC46-01 40,037 MC46-18 74,661 Travelling expenses will not be paid for attending interview Please note that GMC registration (with a licence to practice) and right to work in the UK are essential for this role. Successful applicants will already have GMC registration or will be able to demonstrate they are eligible.
