MORE ABOUT THIS JOB RISK The Risk division is responsible for credit, market and operational risk, model risk, independent liquidity risk, and insurance throughout the firm. RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Divisional Overview The Risk Division is a team of specialists charged with managing the firm's credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firm's counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firm's success. The division is ideal for collaborative individuals who have strong ethics and attention to detail. Credit Risk (CR) is responsible for managing the firm's credit exposure to its trading and lending counterparties. Leveraging its extensive expertise in financial, credit and risk analysis, CR ensures that credit exposure to our counterparts is managed within the firm's risk appetite. Staffed with more than 400 professionals, CR operates through 12 different offices around the world and credit professionals work closely with many areas of the firm. Given this structure, CR professionals gain diverse financial experience and a broad perspective on how the entire firm functions. The interaction with numerous departments and the range of projects that ensue allow for a challenging, varied and multi-dimensional work environment. RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Responsibilities + Conduct in-depth analysis to assess the credit and financial strength of borrowers and counterparts in the REIT/Corporate Real Estate sector by performing fundamental credit analysis of counterparties using both quantitative and qualitative factors + Work with senior credit professionals to underwrite assets-based financing (e.g. discrete commercial real estate mortgage transactions, aviation financing or loan portfolio warehousing), including review of transactions, participate in approval process, make recommendation of appetite and assignment of regulatory and internal ratings + Coordinate with Investment Banking/Financing group, Structuring, Sales & Trading, Legal, Operations and Compliance departments to approve derivatives business and ensure appropriate documentation, limits and risk mitigants + Monitor the performance of borrowers and counterparts in the portfolio, including adherence to terms and covenants, and help formulate risk-mitigating strategies as necessary + Monitor credit trends in the portfolio; detect and escalate notable industry trends and recommend appropriate action to senior team members; Perform sector analysis regularly in order to assess portfolio concentration or trends You will have the opportunity to work on two unique teams covering different industries and learn about different banking products including loans and derivatives ( credit, equity, foreign exchange and swaps). Basic Qualifications + Minimum of 3 years of credit risk management experience, preferably with a background in corporate credit risk and/or commercial real estate lending and/or asset backed securities. + Some experience in loan products, and basic knowledge of derivatives is desirable + Demonstrable high self-motivation and ability of critical thinking and operating independently + Must be able to communicate clearly and precisely in verbal and written format + Gives evidence of being a strong team player, collaborates with others within and across teams, encourages other team members to participate and contribute and acknowledges others' contributions ABOUT GOLDMAN SACHS ABOUT GOLDMAN SACHS At Goldman Sachs, we commit our people, capital and ideas to help our clients, shareholders and the communities we serve to grow.
