Christina has set out our vision of 'passionate and trusted experts creating industry-leading solutions through attracting and developing the best talent'. **Your role:** We are looking for an established leader in the Design field to oversee the UX&D output across our brands. Serving as the discipline lead for UX and Design we are looking for a senior and experienced design practitioner to be part of our Senior Leadership Team in Technology and report into the CTO - Christina Scott. The successful candidate must have a passion for, not only design and UX, but all technology and the disciplines within, able to at times lead a multi-disciplined team including engineering, Programme and Product. You'll be hands-on and willing to work in a fast paced, ever-moving environment and you'll keep up-to-date with the latest trends and be acutely aware of new practices in the field. The role will combine both high level strategic thinking and hands-on team management. **Day to day you will:** Be directly overseeing 2 established teams within News UK - The UXD Hub and The Tech Consultancy. **UXD Hub** A dedicated cross-title UX&D team, separate from, but running in parallel to the roadmaps, focusing on the discovery phase. The hub focuses on researching and developing initial ideas with our current and potential users to help accelerate product initiatives by defining unknowns to the business. The UXD Hub work with Product teams, Insight and Data to: + Help accelerate, validate and shape existing product initiatives readying them for existing product teams to deliver into their roadmaps + Help inspire future roadmap candidates using user, data and audience insights to highlight opportunities + Validate roadmap initiatives with our core users to cut down on assumptions + Conduct necessary discovery on future quarter initiatives, allowing roadmap teams to focus on delivering current quarter targets + Engage the wider business at an earlier stage by conducting discovery research to create clarity around the unknowns, refining the idea for potential future roadmap consideration. + Ensure horizontal, cross-title approach is considered at discovery phase identifying potential shared solutions for across our brands. + Research and analyse current and potential audience opportunities + Advise on demographic and behavioural segmentation + Apply user-centred design approach to address ideas and problems + Balance customer needs with business goals + Deliver conceptual proposals for partnership integrations, product features and more + Design prototypes to visualise products and features + Champion modular design, accessibility and usability + Ideate and create deliverable assets and scamps **Tech Consultancy** The Tech Consultancy is responsible for early engagement with the business to help shape new business ventures. A full cross-discipline lean team, The Tech Consultancy explore feasibility and identify technical scope for proposed initiatives. The team work on discovery phase to business case, scoping and outlining requirements, then handing off to existing or new teams to take forward. The consultancy provides expertise and prototyping skills to determine the art of the possible. TheTech Consultancy work with the wider business and departments in News UK to: + Provide the first point of contact for teams outside Technology when exploring new business ventures or third party partnerships + Provide technical expertise and digital knowledge to teams looking to explore potential new tech solutions to business problems. + Interface with deeper parts of technology + Provide an overview of our current capabilities and service catalogue, highlighting opportunities to use current solutions and where new services will need to be explored. + Ensure strategic business needs are being met and exceeded with the proposed products and initiatives by cementing the 'why?' and recommending the 'how?'. + Craft compelling product recommendations by working closely with the Exec team, Product Directors and Managers, guiding product decisions to meet the customer
