Job Description

You will be an expert technologist excited to deliver a radical vision of the future of insurance. As an empathetic leader, and communicator, you will be a builder of relationships, connecting the Engineering organisation with the rest of the business. You will strive for continuous improvement and learning to nurture our inclusive engineering teams as well as recruiting diverse talent to join them. You will partner with the CTO & Chief Data Scientist to drive technical strategy, excellence, and be the voice of Engineering in the company. The VP of Engineerings job is to make everyone in the engineering organisation successful. Your day-to-day will include: * Set, develop and narrate engineering strategy internally and externally * Recruit, motivate and develop talented engineers, creating future leaders * Promote a culture of modern, high-performance, Agile software engineering * Cultivate customer understanding and empathy * Bring new Insurance tech products to market * Partner with international sales to drive revenue growth * Bring technical credibility and lead both operational and strategic engineering initiatives * Staying up to date with new technologies and able to be technically hands on You will help improve our technology stack which includes AWS and GCP services. React, Redux, Node.js on the UI, 90% Golang on the backend, Python on the Data Science side. Deployed with CircleCI and Concourse using Docker containers. Our services on Kubernetes and AWS Lambda. We are using various databases like DynamoDB, Firestore, BigQuery, ElasticSearch and testing our solutions with BlazeMeter, BrowserStack and some other tools, following the infrastructure as code principal using Terraform and CloudFormation. Requirements What we look for in your profile: * You will have demonstrated your leadership ability in a startup engineering environment * You will have strong domain experience coming from an insurance or insurtech background * People management skills & empathy: You can recruit, train, and manage diverse engineering talent and mould them into a team * You will have had experience working with cloud technologies, ideally having built data focused products with a serverless architecture * You enjoy driving forward the technical vision and still be hands on, leading by example * You will have examples of having employees best interests at heart, giving them opportunities for growth, and offering them an opportunity to participate in the creation of something larger than themselves * Innovation: You are positive by nature, drawn towards big, new ideas, and maintain an inclination to support internal innovators Extra areas of interest: * B2B product experience * Data based product, e.g. fraud detection, risk management, betting, quant finance, loan, credit risk * Engineering productivity enthusiast who believes in value of engineering tools like core platform, enabling the entire team to ship securely and at pace * Risk modelling / fintech domain interest * Built on top of Salesforce B2B product integration experience * Scaled with a sub 50 people company 3x Benefits * Private Health Insurance * Pension Plan * Training & Development * Stock Options * Flexi working * Learning and Development * Cycle to work scheme About Cytora Cytora transforms underwriting for commercial insurance.
