Job Description

Looking for a Safety Officer to join a team in Brent 37 Hours per week. Contract position. Accountabilities and Responsibilities: To carry out inspections, surveys and investigations in respect of the Council's duties and responsibilities under all relevant Sports Grounds Safety, Fire Safety, Licensing and Health and Safety and allied/related legislation. To assist in the development and maintenance of enforcement strategies and working arrangements with other units, services and external agencies that will ensure best practice in service delivery. To ensure that duties carried out meet the Service Area and Corporate Standards, and that the principles of the Governments' Enforcement Concordat and Regulator's Compliance Code and service Enforcement policies are always applied. To attend meetings and liaise with other authorities, agencies, council units, service providers and similar organisations. To prepare reports on premises/activities inspected, following complaints, programmed inspections or as part of surveys; to maintain premises, case, and other records. To prepare and progress reports for Council committees, panels and other meetings as required. Attend and present reports to committees etc. as necessary. Qualifications and Professional Membership requirements: * A recognised qualification in Sports Ground Safety, Public Safety or Health and Safety and/or substantial experience thereof. * Possess a high standard of numeracy, literacy and grammatical accuracy. * Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Knowledge Extensive knowledge of the different types of safety certificates, their purpose and contents. Significant k nowledge of relevant legislative controls, enforcement tools and their legal basis; the principles of risk assessment and control, and their proper practical implementation in workplace health and safety, sports grounds safety and other relevant enforcement specialism.
