Number of jobs available 2 Region London City/Town London Building/Site Thames Barrier SE18 5NJ Grade Staff Grade 4 Post Type Permanent Working Pattern Full Time Role Type Operational Delivery Salary Minimum 28,123 Job description The primary responsibility of this role is to carry out routine maintenance on a range of electrical and electronic assets to a high standard. Other responsibilities include: performing fault reporting, diagnosis, and rectification; installation and modification to existing systems; identifying failing assets and suggesting remedial action plans. The position is day-work, and after a probationary period, there may be the possibility to join a standby rota to operate assets for flood defence, respond to incidents, and any other operational requirements. There may be a requirement to work at height, over water or in confined spaces. All relevant training, tools and PPE will be provided. There will also be the opportunity for a personal development path. The team The MEICA Electrical Team are based at the iconic Thames Barrier in south east London. They work on a wide variety of electrical and electronic equipment at several large flood defence structures, and at other associated sites along the tidal Thames. The team also work closely with the Mechanical and Project teams to ensure total reliability of our assets at all times. Experience/skills required BS7671:18th Edition certification is required. The ideal candidate will be a time-served industrial electrician or controls technician, with good experience of any industrial LV power distribution and control systems. Ideally they will have some knowledge of PLC systems, inspection and testing, HV distribution, hydraulics, SCADA, instrumentation, or telemetry. They will be able to work to Method Statements, understand Risk Assessments and read technical drawings. They will be well organised, able to prioritise a varied workload and maintain attention to detail. Be self-motivated, working well in a team environment and under their own initiative. Have experience of using Microsoft products and computerised maintenance systems. Successful applicants will have to undergo a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) and a Colour Vision assessment. Occasional travel throughout the area will be required, a full driving licence would therefore be essential.
