Job Description
The Role We're looking for someone who is energetic, focused and committed to managing and improving our buildings in a fast paced team. The Property Manager, working closely with Strategic Property Services Division, will manage all aspects of maintaining and improving the Temporary Accommodation portfolio of c.1000 properties, ensuring that they comply with all statutory requirements. A key part of the role is carrying out inspections, including arranging fire risk assessments and asbestos control, and arranging for any work arising to be carried out to a good standard and is value for money. Preparing and submitting planning applications will also be necessary and attending committee and public meetings. Drafting business cases, financial forecasts and managing risk for proposed acquisitions or projects or proposed additional services for typical project budgets in the 2 - 8m range. The successful candidate will have worked within a Public Sector Organisation and will have an in-depth knowledge of the relevant legislation and planning rules. The Benefits and Housing Needs Service delivers many functions all centred around homelessness prevention. Delivering the best housing solutions for residents using compassion, discretion and common sense, makes us a great team to work in. For our 3,000 households that are homeless, the service procures, maintains and manages the provision of temporary accommodation until they can secure settled housing. The temporary accommodation portfolio of properties ranges from purpose built Council specified but privately developed hostel accommodation of 100+ units to converted HMO houses and individual flats. The portfolio currently consists of 830 units with potentially another 129 units being added later in 2020.
