Job Description

PURPOSE * Analyze and manage risk management issues by identifying, measuring, assessing on operational risks associated with electronic and algorithmic trading across multiple asset classes, across all regulatory jurisdictions in which RBC operates such systems. * Assist in the development and maintenance of algorithmic trading policies in the firm to ensure that firm governance is aligned with global regulatory requirements and established best practices. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES * Engage staff from within the business, technology, compliance and other control functions to ensure RBC maintains a robust control framework related to all aspects of algorithmic trading. * Assist in the development of, and ongoing measurement of, Key Risk Indicators across all asset classes and regions. * Participate in any regulatory examinations directly or indirectly involving RBC's electronic and algorithmic trading. * Assist or lead any risk, policy, or regulatory adherence assessments undertaken. * Preparing updates for senior business and risk management committees and leadership. * Review internal or external events related to electronic trading errors or failures and formulating appropriate mitigating controls. JOB SPECIFICATIONS * Excellent understanding of financial markets, preferably across multiple asset classes, and electronic trading systems and techniques. * Ability to analyze risk. * Familiarity with IT development lifecycle and methodologies. * Familiarity with electronic trading regulations in one or more major jurisdiction * Good communication skills with the ability to interact with technology, business, and risk management staff across levels of seniority.
