Job Description

" The role As an adviser you will contribute to developing and promoting the LGA's key policy messages on local democracy and electoral reform. You will lead projects across a wide range of areas, including electoral reform, community-based democracy and engagement and civility in public life. Often in the media spotlight, this is a key area of interest for councils and a priority for the LGA. Your work will include supporting councils and working with partners as we move into the next phases of the COVID-19 response, and you will need to be able to work flexibly to respond to rapidly changing circumstances and priorities. Working in the Policy Directorate your main responsibilities will be to: \t * Support the team's work on electoral reform, online harms, democracy and civility in public life \t * Develop the LGA's policy in specific areas, including the holding of future elections \t * Develop support for councillors with regards to conduct, standards, addressing intimidation and civility in public life. The requirements We are looking for an effective team player with excellent organisational and people skills. Ideally you will have a good knowledge and understanding of local government and local democracy. You will be working alongside national partners including relevant Government departments and national officer associations and will need to excel in relationship building and joint delivery of projects as well as being able to engage directly with local authorities and offer bespoke support where required.
