Job Description

Our client is looking for Staff Nurses - PICU to work within their Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. You will be required to provide a high standard of holistic family centred care to children and families and communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team. This is a full-time role working 37.5hrs per week - flexible shifts on internal rotation. Roles and Responsibilities: * Provide the highest standard of nursing care for children and their families * Plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual children and supervise other staff in this activity * Ensure there is a welcoming, caring and safe environment provided for children and their families * Maintain confidentiality surrounding the child's admission and treatment at all times * Act as an advocate for the child and family, providing them with information and support, directing them to relevant support services where appropriate * Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers and other staff, overcoming any barriers * Act in a calm and understanding manner during distressing or emotional events, and provide support where needed * Plan discharges from admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments and community services as necessary * Develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide holistic, evidence-based nursing car * Be competent in the administration of medication * Ensure clinical practice is evidence based or peer reviewed "best practice" * Assist with ongoing education and training of families Skills and Experience: * NMC Child Registered Nurse * Post grad nursing experience in a paediatric setting ideally PICU; although they will consider those that have an interest in progressing a career within PICU from other specialism If interested, please get in touch via contact details provided or click "Apply" to forward an up to date copy of your CV and ideally with a cover letter.
