Due to the retirement of our current aggregates supervisor an opportunity has arisen for responsible and motivated supervisor to manage a team of four operatives at our aggregate operation based in Colwick Nottingham working 45 hours per week Mon to Friday, with every third Saturday AM (0600hrs - 1200hrs) on rotation to provide cover for tipping / loading operations Overview of Role * Responsible for ensuring yard activities are undertaken in a safe and efficient manner, through close & effective supervision, ensuring employees remained trained and competent for their roles, deliver ongoing safety tool box talks and reacting to unsafe situations to suspend / control activities to minimize risk of injury. * Responsible for the day to day supervision of a team of operatives in the Aggregates Yard, maximizing productivity for screening / recovery of Inert Soil materials and crushing hardcore / concrete into recycled aggregates. * The Supervisor will be an experienced mobile plant operator, forming part of the team processing the materials and ensuring customers are tipped off, loads sorted and product loaded in a timely and efficient manner to optimize customer service * Responsible for ensuring pre-start checks are done on mobile and fixed plant and acting to rectify defects in a timely and cost effective way via consultation with the Aggregates Commercial Manager. * Responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance to minimize cost where possible and improve the productivity of the plant assets, both fixed and mobile. Key Responsibilities & Activities * Is a champion for Health & Safety and instills a Health & Safety culture within the Aggregates team, and actively looks for and implements safety improvements in consultation with the Operatives and Aggregates Commercial Manager. * Undertake periodic reviews of SWP's/ Risk Assessments and recommend any improvements, followed by roll out training to the Aggregates Operatives. * Undertake Near Miss reporting and SUSAs, ensuring that all team members report Near Misses regularly and implement close out actions on NM reports to improve site safety * Manage the mixing / blending / loading of outgoing MRF Fines to optimize quality and minimise disposal costs were possible. * Ensures all requisite checks are undertaken on incoming waste streams to ensure compliance with the Permit, as well as optimizing revenue through capturing suitable documentary evidence (photos / tickets) to enable customer recharges. Will react in a timely manner to address any breaches of the Permit and inform the Aggregates Commercial Manager. * Supervise, coach and develop the Aggregates operational team that meets agreed objectives for compliance and profitability * Arranges servicing of equipment at suitable times to minimize impact on productivity and maintain reliability of equipment, as well as directing resources for reactive maintenance. * Manage external contractors when working in the Aggs Operational area, providing safe working areas, RAMS are understood, adhered to and relevant isolations are in place and that contractors have been inducted. * Regularly review stores holdings for consumables (Wheelwash) and engineering parts for mobile and fixed plant and liaise with Aggregates Commercial Manager to ensure critical spares are maintained / ordered in a timely manner. * Oversee the development of Aggregates personnel to optimise competencies and flexibility throughout the team.
