Job Description
LIM, an expanding division of Legal Insurance Management Group (LIM Group), has an exciting opportunity for an experienced solicitor or paralegal, specialising in the handling of commercial contract claims to join the LIM Claims Team. LIM is a leading specialist in the field of legal expenses insurance (LEI), Professional Fees Insurance and associated niche products, offering bespoke, highly-customised policies ideal for our intermediary partners to service their respective market. Essential Competencies: * Qualification as a solicitor or paralegal with experience of handling litigated matters * Knowledge of commercial and consumer contract law * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * A polite telephone manner * Developed organisational and time management skills * Enthusiasm and motivation to succeed * The ability to work individually and proactively * A customer-focused attitude * Outstanding attention to detail Desirable Competencies: * Industry-specific qualifications, i.e. CII Certificate, Diploma, etc. * A proven employment record within a legal or insurance environment * Experience of handling LEI claims Role and Responsibilities: As a Claims Handler (Solicitor) within the LIM Claims Team, you will have your own portfolio of claims which you will be responsible for assessing and managing. It is your responsibility to conduct an in-depth assessment of our clients' claims, from both an insurance and legal perspective, to ascertain whether claims are covered by the respective LEI policy. This involves gathering full information from the client, carrying out legal research and applying the facts of the legal dispute to the LEI policy. You will communicate the policy decision to the client in writing and provide verbal clarification when required. Dependent on the value and complexity of an accepted claim, you may handle the claim in-house, drafting letters before action, liaising with partners, negotiating with the third party and drafting court papers. If a panel solicitor is appointed to handle a claim, you will be responsible for authorising and managing the costs and disbursements incurred and approving work undertaken. At the conclusion of a claim you will be involved in reviewing invoices received, ensuring that the costs billed are in accordance with those previously authorised. All Claims Handlers in the LIM Claims Team handle claims following validation to conclusion, acting as a point of contact and support for clients, specialists and appointed representatives, ultimately providing an outstanding customer experience.
