Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, someone who is not afraid to challenge the status quo and put forward alternative design ideas. You will be a member of a strong team working towards a goal of producing the exact machine our customers wish for. Working for an established award-winning Company, you will play a key role in ensuring that designs and BoMs are issued promptly and in such a way that manufacturing is made easy. You will be part of a design team focused on design improvements and innovation and you will bring experience in quality, efficiency and design solutions. Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities: * Interpret customer requirements on machine modifications, translate these to 2D and 3D drawings working with 3D CAD modelling software (mainly Solidedge) addressing any bespoke requirements. * Produce detailed component / assembly drawings with the ease of machine manufacturing in mind, providing advice to the Production Team where necessary. * Release BoMs through the MRP system (Epicor), liaising closely with the Procurement Department to ensure all components are delivered within necessary timescales. * Provide design support to the Customer Care Department on tooling, spares and machine upgrade enquiries. * Assist the Design function in meeting its goals on product development and market diversification. Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements: * Degree or HNC qualified. Must have a minimum of five years relevant industrial experience within a precision engineering environment incorporating knowledge of some of the following: * Design of machine tools / metal-cutting machinery (ideally grinding / milling machines) or large rotating equipment. * Up-to-date design expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, castings, fabrication, drives and bearings. * Safety, quality and compliance standards, such as CE marking. * Manufacturing systems such as ERP. * CAD based systems such as Solid Edge, Solid Works and Autocad. Location: Rochdale, Greater Manchester Job type: Full Time, Permanent, 37 hours per week, 4½ day week with an 11.45 am finish on a Friday Salary: £27,000 to £37,000 per annum Benefits: Life assurance of 4 x salary; Pension of up to 6% matched contributions; 25 days holiday increasing with service, plus 8 days statutory.
