# Job Description Quality Inspection plays an integrated role for the company. Successful candidate will be proficient in providing support and guiding the company to standardise gauging, inspection activities and provide cover for metrology activities. Core responsibilities: Successful candidate will be responsible for all aspect of inspection process for the company as follows: * Magnetic Particle Inspection * Liquid Penetrant Inspection * PC - DMIS CNC CMM (Global DEA Coordinate measuring machine) * Manual CMM (Mitutoyo coordinate measuring machine) * Gauging / Metrology * Incoming inspection * Sub Con Inspection * Active participant in NCR processes. As part of the Quality Inspector role, candidate will be required to: * Continue to work closely with machine shop supervisors and production engineering. * Establish and implement off line programming techniques for CNC CMM. * Train operators to perform inspection activities using programmes. * Train team members on industry / in house NDT requirements. * Manage inspection workload and improve methods for resource planning. * Establish pull system between inspection and machine shop. * Update and communicate inspection metrics in line with business requirements. * Ensure adequate sub-con cover is planned and in place prior to absences and high workloads. * Ensure sub-con workload is clear and transition is smooth and hassle free. * Provide overtime support as required, and sometimes at short notice, in order to reduce inspection workload and/or meet customer required deliveries. * Have a high level of attention to details and be able to make objective decisions based on information provided. * Ability to work accurately at speed and under pressure. * Develop working relationships with colleagues within the company that are productive in terms of supporting and delivering your work and that of the overall organisation. * Follow and participate in Altra's ABS principles and make changes to own practice and offer suggestions for improving services. Essential Skills and abilities Level 2 Magnetic Particle Inspection - PCN Preferred, SNT-TC-1A Optional Essential Level 2 Liquid Penetrant Inspection - PCN Preferred, SNT-TC-1A Optional Desirable PC - DMIS (Global DEA Coordinate measuring machine) - Level 1 and 2 Preferred Essential Mitutoyo coordinate measuring machine experience Essential Computer literate in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint Essential Excellent communication and written skills Essential Personal attributes Able to work as part of a team Essential Ability to manage in demanding situations and make sound decisions Essential Self-disciplined and able to work on own initiative Essential Educational achievements and knowledge Minimum 5 A - C GCSEs (including English and Maths) or equivalent to English and Maths Essential Successfully completed an engineering/manufacturing apprenticeship or equivalent qualification. Desirable Minimum of 4 years' experience of working in a similar role within manufacturing industry. Essential Working hours: 39 hpw - Monday to Friday; occasional overtime required.
