Job Description

The GS EMEA Business Unit, headquartered in Leatherhead, has numerous long-term projects being executed and administered in multiple locations around the UK and Middle East. A Controller is required to assume responsibility for the accounting integrity of the project lifecycle, from initial establishment, through accurate and timely accounting, to expedient closure of the project books. The BU reports through multiple companies and, as such, the Controller will also be required to oversee statutory accounting and reporting of the relevant entities. Reporting to the BU CFO with a dotted line to the Corporate Controller, the successful candidate will work closely with the FP&A lead in the areas of budgeting, forecasting and regular management reporting. The incumbent will take management responsibility for a broad range of project and financial accounting staff. General Responsibilities * Ensure that BU books are reported in US GAAP on a monthly basis. * Ensure books of related Legal Entities assigned to the BU are maintained in accordance with either GAAP and/or local standards as required and are reconcilable to BU books quarterly. * Ensure adherence to KBR accounting policies and applicable best practices. * Design and maintain accounting processes and tools to enable effective and efficient Accounting outcomes; with focus on maximisation of standard processes and utilisation of tools used more across KBR. * Successful development, enhancement, and maintenance of all internal controls, including SOX, or other regulatory requirements. * Identify, evaluate, recommend, and document technical accounting and judgmental accounting positions. Escalate to and engage with Corporate CAO's office for prompt resolution and alignment before closing process. * Primary liaison with external auditors. * Ensure all project forecasts, both P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow align with Accounting positions and expectations. * Coordinate cash controls and cash flow mechanisms as they interrelate with sound accounting and reporting practices and contribute to maximisation of cash flow and enable reliable forecasting of cash flows. * Develop precise awareness of all elements on BU balance sheet and incorporate into realisability assessments, resulting P&L and Cash Flow impacts, and P&L risks/opportunities management. * Design overall Accounting team staffing model and individual position requirements to achieve desired Accounting outcomes. Recruit, develop and retain world class people to execute the mission of the Controller. Technical Requirements * US GAAP proficiency * Practical experience in a projects-based organisation * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Proven staff manager and excellent communicator * Advanced user of MS Office; Hyperion Financial Manager and SAP preferable.
