Job Description
Purpose To produce the full range of editorial content, predominantly written, for both the daily online and weekly print editions of GlobalCapital on their specialist sector of the capital markets, where they are also an ambassador for the organisation. Principal Responsibilities 1. Drive GlobalCapital's coverage of the investment grade corporate bond market in Europe, identifying the most important deals, themes, people moves and other industry news and providing the most trusted, freshest and fullest analysis. This means ensuring there is fresh, original reporting each day and that the corporate bond market is adequately represented on the front cover of the weekly print edition, at the top of the home page and in the newspaper's opinion sections. 2. Write the full range of the newspaper's coverage - from hard news, to analysis, to opinion, to features, to Bond Comments - in the house style and to tight deadlines, including planning the layout for the corporate bond section of the weekly print edition. 3. Maintain and expand a broad number of deep relationships with key people in the corporate bond markets and become part of the daily fabric of that market to ensure the newspaper understands its subject and its readers better than any of its rivals and has as many sources for stories as possible. 4. Be the voice of a particular market sector within the paper, being able to pitch story ideas, champion special report ideas and provide insight and a point of collaboration for the rest of the editorial team to make sure GlobalCapital provides novel coverage and is at the forefront of the newest trends and ideas. 5. Provide cover for other market sectors where appropriate when required. 6. Represent the newspaper at industry events. Principal Requirements 1. A hunger to break news in a competitive market and to provide the freshest, most interesting and most original stories on the corporate bond market. 2. An eagerness to get to know the key players in capital markets and develop sources and contacts. 3. A willingness to work as part of a hard working team of journalists, collaborating where it serves a story best to do so and chipping in with other, general newsroom responsibilities. 4. Excellent written English skills and an ability to write different types of coverage from hard news, to features and opinion. 4. Experience of writing about or working in capital markets is a distinct advantage. 5. Must be eligible to work in the UK.
