Job Summary: The Total Rewards Department is responsible for the continuous innovation, communication, implementation, administration and maintenance of Markel Corporation's global rewards plans to include Compensation, Benefits, and Equity Administration. The department provides the strategic direction, execution and design of all Company compensation, benefit and equity plans to drive employee engagement and alignment with the overall company strategy, priorities and organisational culture. Working within the Global Total Rewards Team, this position supports the evolution of Markel's Total Rewards Philosophy through the planning, evaluation, design and implementation of compensation programmes; including the management of the annual compensation processes, compensation data integrity, salary benchmarking and short & long term incentive plans. Duties and Accountabilities * Support the continued usage and education around the new Markel Career Framework and ensuring, via periodic review, the integrity and consistent usage of job mapping, job profiles and incentive plans. * Support and guide the broader HR team, and where applicable, line management, in the application and usage of Total Rewards policies, procedures and standards. * Provide regional support to the year-end compensation process working closely with HRBP's and the Compensation Team in Richmond VA. * In partnership with the MNA Compensation Team based in Richmond VA, ensure the submission of, and participation in, appropriate compensation surveys and conduct market data analysis to ensure compensation programs are competitive and align to the Markel Compensation Philosophy. * Support compensation due diligence and integration activities associated with mergers and acquisitions. * Assist with global mobility requests, identifying implications and establishing appropriate reward packages and guidance. Skills, Knowledge and Experience * Experience of working in a compensation / rewards function, preferably with multi-national focus * Strong analytical and numerical ability and attention to detail * Strong working knowledge of Workday * Specific Workday compensation experience and good appreciation of data integrity * Expertise in Microsoft applications, such as Excel and Word * Ability to communicate effectively and develop strong working relationships * Ability to multi-task within a demanding and fast paced environment We want to ensure that you have a positive experience applying for a role at Markel and are able to perform at your best.
