Title: Control System Project Engineer Job Number: 3470586 Additional Cities: Stafford Career Level: Experienced Relocation Assistance: No Business: GE Renewable Energy Business Segment: Renewable Energy Grid Solutions Function: Engineering/Technology Country/Territory: United Kingdom Postal Code: ST16 1WS Role Summary/Purpose: The Control Project Engineer supports delivery of software with successful verification of design and implementation of HVDC Control and Protection system software (Complete HVDC system design technical solution) as per the project requirements with and without physical hardware in loop. Essential Responsibilities: To ensure software project delivery team is focused on deliverables in order to deliver site software milestones on time and on budget and to the right technical standard To ensure technical risks of projects are identified clearly and communicated to the project managers and the lead team To act as mentor for the control system, software and validation teams to ensure right priority and technical support for successful execution for the project scope To review technical blockers and liaise with all stakeholders in projects in all technical matters to consolidate technical solutions from technical expertise to remove blockers To review project software delivery plan and ensure the delivery plan contain the necessary activities and sequence of execution to optimise delivery of project software To review the proposed technical solutions and ensure compliance with the contract To maintain return of experience by continuous update during the project software delivery cycle To maintain record for all technical issues and implemented solutions during the project software delivery cycle. To contribute to the reviews with technical inputs and strategies Support a standard product methodology mindset, seek opportunities to re-use solutions, improve quality and reliability whilst reducing the delivery timeline and associated costs Qualifications/Requirements: Engineering degree or equivalent knowledge/experience with major experience in power-system related activities and/or Systems/Software engineering disciplines, and with significant experience of HVDC delivery projects More than 10 years' experience in HVDC industry or equivalent Proven experience of planning and driving engineering teams to meet challenging time-scales, budgets, and quality standards. Organise who is assigned to tasks within your group, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner Take a pro-active approach to ensuring Health & Safety is paramount, including conducting Risk Assessments where necessary Strong customer interface experience Strong sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage technical risks Proven skills in supervision of technical team with strong technical background Strong written and verbal communication skills, experienced in creating and presenting technical reports and responding to clients' technical questions Ability to understand and communicate customer requirements, lead technical discussions with customers and delivery teams Understanding of Systems Engineering, software and hardware principles and requirements management Able to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining the safety, quality and engineering integrity of the solution Desired Characteristics: Knowledge of applicable electrical standards such as IEC 61850, IEC 62351, IEC 12207, IEEE 15288, IEC 25010, IEC 27032, NERC/CIP Experienced in technical leadership Experience working in HVDC industry About Us: GE (NYSE:GE) drives the world forward by tackling its biggest challenges.
