Job purpose: To manage and control the Hub Inbound and Outbound Functions using the sorter systems and Yard systems with the support and guidance of the Hub, Systems and Yard Manager. Ensure productivity levels, compliance and shift costs are managed in line with KPI's and budgeted targets. Achieve maximum throughputs using best practices, high levels of staff training and operational understanding. You will be monitoring a live view of the systems to ensure all KPI's and SLA's are met. About the Role: Whilst on shift you will be responsible for managing the Assistant Controllers who will be responsible for managing the inbound and outbound operations including throughputs, parcel presentation, productivity levels and achievement of forecasted CPU against budgeted targets. You must be an experienced people manager and be comfortable analysing data and creating reports on required aspects of the business whilst responding and resolving any queries from Client Managers. You will support the Hub, Systems & Yard Manager with all H&S, hygiene and quality audits including risk assessments and safe systems of work in your areas whilst promoting and driving consistency to ensure the delivery of excellent operational standards. This is a shift based position and you will rotate across a 6:00am - 2:30pm and 2:00pm - 10:30pm shifts. Experience/Qualifications: * Extensive knowledge and experience of operational processes and practices, particularly hub operations * Proven ability to build business knowledge and translate into working practices and procedures * Must be able to work on own initiative in a pressurised environment * Be able to use internal systems and equipment * Motivational leader * Experience of leading a high performing team * Advanced Excel Responsibilities: * Daily planning and management of inbound and outbound operations including throughputs, parcel presentation, productivity levels and achievement of forecasted CPU against budgeted targets * Managing adhoc requests of Trailer tracking using the Hub Systems and ensure this is followed through to completion * Monitoring of performance and analysis of reports to drive improvement plans * Managing the no reads per induction and ensuring the Team leaders are managing the in feeders. * Giving the business key operational reports against forecast to ensure achievement of targets * Ensuring efficient management of the Yard which includes the correct trailers are being called onto bay and fully processed * Managing the Inbound and Outbound Gatehouse's to ensure the correct procedures are being followed including the recruitment of staff * Managing and controlling Client SLA's, load presentation compliance, infeed targets, blockbuster targets, parcel presentation and product placement through data available on sorter system. * Managing and controlling the reduction of damages and claims * Working alongside and building strong relationships with client managers offering insight and carrying out full investigations on missed SLA * All shift operational costs and performance reports and able to demonstrate strong cost leadership * Ensuring all Team Leaders are fully compliant with the Yard System functions by training and coaching the YMS to all areas of the business Benefits: * Bonus * 26 Days Holiday entitlement + Bank Holidays * Opt in benefits "To all recruitment agencies: Hermes does not accept agency resumes.
