" Job Title: Linux Server Engineer Location: Warwick Type of Job: Permanent In these extraordinary times of the coronavirus outbreak telent is continuing to Recruit. We provide services to customers which are integral to providing mission critical systems and infrastructure across the UK and Ireland and we need to continue to deliver those services. The Project Highways England have awarded telent the contract for the operation and management of NRTS2 (National Roads Telecommunication Services), NRTS is the network of communication and control that Highways England uses to monitor and manage England's motorways and major trunk roads, it is a critical component of national infrastructure supporting the country's 4,400 mile strategic road network. The contract includes a major technology transformation programme in addition to general maintenance and management of the network; The transformation programme comprises of 11 technology projects, including the introduction of new wireless and IP CCTV services, new management systems and the next-generation upgrade of all technology, this will ultimately enable Highways England to prepare for the future and enable safer roads, more efficient delivery and a better road user experience. Linux Server Engineer We are currently seeking a Linux Server Engineer to build and support the working solution against project timescales to an architected design. Developing technical specifications and other relevant support documentation and maintaining the systems security posture to the project requirements and advising and implement changes as needed. You will also support the unit, system and integration testing and provid support with application deployments and working with 3rd party vendors to deliver solutions while monitoring the performance and efficiency of systems and instigate modifications and improvements where necessary. Additional deliverables include: Provide advice to end users on how to operate the systems. Identify and manage the updates of all products under the architect's responsibility Resolve technical queries Provide system training as required Test new applications and upgrades Create and maintain the system Business Operations Experience: System Administrator Experience with Red Hat Enterprise v6 and v7 for a suitable period of time. Working in a development / support environment Working with any of the systems mentioned below: - Linux, RHEL v6/v7, Microsoft, Updates and Patching, Monitoring Tools, Security, DHCP, DNS, Microsoft. Microsoft AD/Linux Integration Skills/Qualifications:: Microsoft Qualifications or equivalent experience Scripting capabilities in Python, Bash, PowerShell Worked with RESTAPI's ITIL Qualification or experience Strong investigative and problem solving skills. Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure and application platforms and operating systems.
