Gilead's portfolio of products and pipeline of investigational drugs includes treatments for HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, cancer, inflammatory and respiratory diseases. The Global Commercial L&D Unit will be focused initially on four key areas - global marketing excellence, global selling model and first line manager training, product/disease training and global leadership development. This team will design and deliver global training content, as well as conduct train-the-trainers of specific global Commercial courses, as available. **Job Description:** Reporting to the Executive Director, Global Commercial Learning and Development, the Senior Director/Director, Global Leadership Development will be responsible for conducting global training needs assessments, training design, training development, training delivery and training evaluation. This individual will also work closely with our Commercial Human Resources lead to ensure we have up-to-date Commercial talent assessments of potential, and an annual list of high potential talent to be considered for additional leadership development and/or global talent movement to gain new leadership experiences within Gilead (especially talent deemed as having future GM potential). In addition the Senior Director/Director will lead the development and implementation of Agile and Collaborative Models techniques. The successful Global Leadership Development leader will be a dynamic, experienced individual with a strong track record of team leadership experience across a variety of settings and topics in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry. She/he must have the proven ability to effectively manage complex projects, influence stakeholders without authority, effectively network across the organization and communicate with senior leaders all within a fast moving, challenging and dynamic Commercial environment. **Essential Duties and Job Functions:** Specific responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following: + Coordinate closely with US (key contributor) and ACE Region Commercial Learning & Development Functions to: + Develop inventory of current regional/local existing training programs + Review inventory to determine viability for reuse or adaptation at a global level. + Determine content changes required or work with external vendors to design and build new global content. + Support localization of training content: translation into other languages, and guidance when major changes are required due to local regulatory requirements. + Work closely with the Commercial HR lead to ensure processes are in place to consistently and annually conduct talent assessments of all Gilead global Commercial personnel to identify our highest potential talent, with a special focus in developing a strong pipeline of future GMs + Work with HR to identify critical leadership GAPS within current leadership programs and develop a Global Leadership Training Plan that covers those GAPS cross-functionally with a special focus on General Management (GM Leadership Program). + Work with HR to ensure top talent is receiving appropriate and timely leadership training and global job moves to ensure continued development. + Develop Global Training Programs on AGILE techniques such as Leadership, Psychological safety, Flow, Cognitive Bias, and Continuous Feedback + Develop Global Collaborative Models to enable employees across the world to consistently use analysis and modelling techniques in a collaborative fashion to build and maintain a shared understanding of the problem space and the potential solution. + Once global training is developed, lead trainer for global content and lead any efforts to conduct regional/local train-the-trainer activities. Significant global travel may be required to conduct global training. + Support a learning and development leadership summit, where leaders from Regional/Local learning and development (e.g., US, Stockley Park, EU5, China, Japan, Intercontinental, etc.) units will meet from time to time to discuss, coordinate and collaborate to deliver the best training possible in the most efficient and effective manner. + Build relationships and engage with organization senior executives and functional stakeholders + Ensure that strategic plans, goals and objectives are documented, communicated, reviewed and evaluated on a continuous basis + Ensure stakeholders are engaged throughout training development processes, continuously incorporating feedback to ensure relevance
