Job Description

Accountabilities and Responsibilites * As SMF4 under the SMCR Regime, responsibility for leading the independent risk management function for AllianceBernstein Limited ("ABL") in Europe. * As SMF10 under the SMCR Regime, chair and manage the Risk Controls Oversight Committee; formulate and periodically review organisation's risk management policies * Implement global risk management policies and infrastructure for AllianceBernstein Limited. * Provide counsel to business unit managers on risk management issues and evaluate significant transactions and/or capital commitments prior to execution. * Advocate industry best practice. Establish and enhance company risk culture through training and public relations. * Maintain and establish risk management procedures and standards, develop risk management analyses and reports, approval procedures and guidelines, including risk maps. * Produce and execute Risk Management's Risk Implementation Plan. * Conduct regular meetings with AllianceBernstein Limited Business Unit leaders to discuss operational risk matters, update risk maps and ensure risk culture is embedded. * Produce and execute Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP). * Drive Operational Risk Management Programmes, including risk framework, risk maps and error/incident management, remediation and root cause analysis/resolution. * Regulatory implementation (where appropriate). * Support new products and initiatives. * Co-operate and co-ordinate with compliance on system and control issues. * Drive error management for AllianceBernstein Limited in UK & Europe. Regulatory Requirements * The role will require the individual to be approved by the FCA, this will be dependent on: * Satisfactory regulatory reference from previous employer * Satisfactory background checks * Satisfactory self attestation as to fitness and propriety People Management * Attract high calibre and diverse talent to the firm. * Successfully manage direct reports to enable them to operate at their highest level. * Mentoring and contributing to the development of junior team members. Skills / Experience required * A University degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Operations Management, Technology, or a related field is preferred. * Substantial relevant experience in consulting, strategic analysis, operations analysis & planning which should include significant exposure to financial institutions. Asset Management and/or Broker-Dealer experience is desirable. * Must have superior communications and interpersonal skills and a consultative approach to problem-solving. * Must be highly analytical, with keen business acumen and a self-starter with the ability to work independently. * Strong project management experience. * Proficiency in PC applications: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, MS-Project, Visio (or similar processing flow mapping application). Familiarity with Database applications is a plus. London, UK
