Job Description
An exciting opportunity has become available a Sister / Charge Nurse within the Cardic Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). ABOUT THE TEAM CICU is a as a highly specialised cardiac service for cardiac patients from across the region and nationally. We have 16 beds and the vast majority of our patients are admitted directly from cardiac theatres with a small proportion of cardiology and other admissions. The unit is fast paced caring for patients who require post-operative care following elective cardiac surgery, emergency surgical and cardiology admissions, complex multi organ support and adult congenital patients. CICU is one of the busiest dedicated cardiac intensive care units in the country and is ranked 3rd for patient outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity to join the South Coast's largest Critical Care Unit. This comprises of General ICU, Cardiac ICU, Neurological ICU and Surgical High Dependency; who are proud of their national status and reputation within Critical Care. WHAT YOU'LL DO Under the leadership of the Matron you will have the responsibility for day-to-day operational management of the Unit. You will be expected to lead and develop a team effectively in collaboration with your Band 7 colleagues and be able to demonstrate current experience of, or commitment to, developing effective managerial and leadership skills. You will be receptive to change and committed to working collaboratively with the inter-professional team. As part of your role you will have the opportunity to rotate into the Critical Care Education and Practice Development teams, where you will work with our existing senior nursing team and Clinical Nurse Educators to provide training, education and practice development for junior staff.
