Welder/Fabricator Portsmouth Permanent £11ph – 13.50ph Overtime An immediate permanent vacancy for a Welder Fabricator, with proven experience in MIG Welding within Structural Steelwork. Based in Portsmouth and paying between £11ph – 13.50ph. The Company A Structural Steelwork company who design, manufacture and install Steelwork for sectors such as Industrial, Car Parks, Retail and Distribution. The Role As Welder/Fabricator, you will be joining a busy and growing workforce. You will carry out MIG Welding and Fabrication duties for Structural Steel projects. Role Responsibilities & Accountabilities As a Fabricator/Welder your responsibility is to work in a fabrication gang and assist other team members to ensure work allocated to the gang is produced effectively. Prepare steel by effectively laying-out and fabricating steel sections. Round stock and plate used in buildings and other applications as follows: Read and interpret detailed fabrication drawings for weld sizes, dimensions and layout. Use standard jigs, tools and equipment to aid fabrication and ensure these are properly used and maintained. Mark off, burn, grind, drill and use templates when necessary during the fabrication process. Set out the steel sections and components requiring assembly on shop floor or trestles as appropriate and tack weld into position prior to welding in horizontal/vertical down hand or vertical upward position. Ensure all fabricated steel is correctly marked. Ensure you stamp the work with the unique number allocated (if and when plating). Responsible for requiring all welded joints comply with British Standard Specification BS EN 1011-2:2001, BS EN 1011-1:1998, BS.EN288, BS EN ISO.9006:2017(Sept), NSSS for Building Construction Current Edition. Inspection of own work to ensure it meets quality standards. Person Specification Proven experience MIG Welding. Sufficient use of mathematics/calculations. Tested welder. Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings. Level 3 C & G or equivalent Fabrication and Welding.
