Finance Manager South Birmingham 28 hours per week TT Mon to Thurs 8.30am to 4pm £20,146.11 - £21,707.11 Your new company The school is a mixed secondary school and sixth form with academy status in South Birmingham. Your new role We are recruiting for an experienced, hardworking and committed Finance Manager who is prepared to be flexible in their working environment to start with us as soon as possible. The applicant will have a wide range of previous finance and supervisory experience, preferably in a school environment. What you'll need to succeed Recognised accounting background - ESSENTIAL Recognised accounting qualification - DESIRABLE Awareness of the political, managerial and financial issues currently facing schools and related education support services. Ability to recognise and respond to the wider service issues and objectives which the finance function seeks to support. Ability to seek and develop business opportunities and generate additional income. Highly developed analytical, interpretational and comparative skills capable of dealing with highly complex and sensitive information to support rational decision making. Demonstrate negotiating skills and management of conflict. Ability to: Enthuse and motivate others and develop effective partnerships Work effectively under pressure in a team to meet targets and deadlines Work independently and as part of a team Substantial experience in Schools Finance including School Funding Formula, Scheme of Delegation to Schools and consultation thereof. Substantial; experience of academy funding and accounting procedures. Substantial experience in financial administration, particularly Accountancy (including financial appraisals), Financial planning, External Funding and development of financial Strategies. Experience of providing strategic and technical financial advice to an executive level within a highly complex and political organisation. Evidence of a successfully influencing senior management and other professionals and working with a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of negotiating and dealing with difficult situations and conflict. Demonstrate experience of staff management and supervision in a financial environment. Experience of managing financial projects, systems implementation and financial appraisals, including leading on service reviews projects. Experience of training financial and non-financial staff in the use of financial systems and procedures.
