Overview
Stock and inventory manager Up to £45000 To manage, co-ordinate and control the function to ensure conformity with HMRC regulations for the receipt, storage, internal movement and processing and delivery of both bulk and bottled products. To manage and control the duty deferment account within the guarantee limit and to accurately pay and account for Excise and Customs Duty, Import VAT, Deferred VAT and environmental taxes. Prepare monthly reconciliations to this effect. To control, reconcile and maintain accurate records of all dutiable stocks on site in accordance with both HMRC regulations and business requirements. To provide appropriate advice to management on Excise and Customs Duties, quotas and regulations to minimise costs in complying with HMRC requirements. To provide accurate and meaningful information on stock losses on bulk and finished product, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to resolve problems and to minimise losses. Preparation and submission of Intrastat returns to meet HMRC deadlines. To select, train and motivate staff in the Excise function to meet both the departmental and business needs. To be subject matter expert on supply chain-related fiscal authority process and routines compliance. To act as primary point of contact for HMRC for customs and excise matters To provide support to the Finance Manager in HMRC meetings, and audits in respect of customs and excise issues To review existing processes and develop improvement of controls and processes required to comply with operational fiscal authority requirements. To ensure that the business has all the necessary customs and excise registrations (e.g. EORI, AEO), and guarantees in order to trade in a compliant manner, including the monitoring of guarantee limits. To manage excise pre-payments in light of excise rate changes To manage duty drawback claims To drive implementation of alcohol due diligence policy and tax governance across supply chain for AWRS compliance To provide advice to supply teams on compliance matters and ensure any changes in tax/duty rates communicated and applied correctly on customer invoices. To develop and embed best practice tax processes To coordinate a robust and structured internal compliance process for all new customer set up and manage and improve reporting process to monitor each stage of all new customer set ups. To lead handling of fiscal authority ad-hoc compliance review requests, relating to customs, excise, import VAT and environmental tax. Coordinate regular inventory audits. Maintain stock accuracy KPI's internally and for all customers Maintain an accurate and extensive inventory base. Tracking stock movements, including goods inwards, despatches, returns and rejections and internal transfers. Control stock checking, PI checks, cycle counts and replenishment Advise other departments of any impending stock issues Liaise with warehouse staff to maintain accurate stock locations Produce stock reports as required Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained within the stock control team. Dealing with customer enquiries in relation to stock integrity Qualifications and Key skills for this role: CTA or other relevant accounting or tax qualification?? Proven stock control and inventory management Degree qualification Demonstrable experience post qualified (practice or in-house) Good Excel skills Excellent knowledge of UK Customs and Excise legislation and compliance Alcohol industry experience essential Knowledge of inco-terms and international trading.
