Synergy is a leading Executive search and recruitment firm. We work on behalf of a number of Global Engineering services companies and System Integrators. We are currently looking for experienced High Speed Digital Hardware design engineers to work with a leading Defense client, in either Edingburgh OR Lincoln on a Contract OR Permanent basis. Further details of the role are given below. Responsibilities Reporting into our customer’s Lead Digital Hardware Engineer you will be responsible for; · Designing high speed digital Print Circuit Boards that utilise the latest FPGA, Microprocessor and high speed interconnect technologies. · Supporting throughout the fill hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis; through design, and unit test; to integrating hardware with the target system; and lastly to acceptance test and delivery to customer. · Fully documenting and recording your work products; keeping them under configuration management, and providing plans and progress reports · Working closely with Systems, Mechanical and Software engineers to solve real integration problems on complex systems · May have opportunity to contribute towards the investigation and analysis of leading edge development methodologies and influence the future path of hardware development. Skills, Qualifications and Knowledge Experience in the below would be advantageous, however not essential; · Analysing system level requirements documents and understanding their application to Hardware designs · Schematic Capture using Mentor Graphics Dx Designer or equivalent. · Hardware design of complex FPGA based designs is essential · High speed serial communication protocols and architectures · Hands on experience of Hardware, Firmware & Software Integration of Micro Processor Based designs onto hardware platforms is essential · A methodical approach to the full hardware design lifecycle, working to a structured hardware process is required · De-bugging and testing new designs and supporting module and system related test, verification and integration project phases as required by a development type programme prior to system deliveries. · Ability to interface with suppliers of key components and assemblies. · Ability to communicate effectively across different disciplines both verbally and in written form. · Ability to work on own or as part of a team to resolve technical issues.
