The right individual for the Chartered Structural Engineer position will have a background working on a range of commercial and residential projects, within a UK based Design Consultancy. Ideally the right candidate for this Senior Structural Engineer role will be Chartered or near Chartered, and suitable candidates will need to have demonstrable experience working for UK based Consulting Engineers providing Design services within the sector, with end clients being ideally in the residential sector although other sectors including commercial, education and leisure are considered. In addition, this role is specifically orientated around clients who are German-speaking, and the company are looking to hire someone who is fluent in both English and German. This excellent forward thinking practice and entering an exciting period of extended growth with demand from German speaking clients, and as a result they are looking to hire a Senior level Chartered Structural Engineer to support their planned further expansion of the office and the acquisition of subsequent junior staff to support the enhanced demand for their services. The project workload is focused on residential and commercial projects, ranging from new builds through to refurbishments and extensions. The broad range of clients includes private clients as well as large multinational household names, and the successful Chartered Structural Engineer will have the opportunity to work on a range of major projects with exciting remits for blue-chip clientele. This role will suit an ambitious individual who is looking to further enhance their career and progress further in the Structural Engineering sector. The role will provide the successful chartered individual with the opportunity to take control of all aspects of projects, from initial scheme design right through to the completion of construction on site. As a Chartered Structural Engineer, you will also have responsibility for overseeing more junior individuals and being involved in the development of graduate engineers and apprentices. The position will involve regular travel as required on an ad hoc basis in line with the projects you are working on and responsible for, and candidates must be prepared to do so where required. Relevant Job Titles: Chartered Structural Engineer, Chartered Structural Design Engineer, Senior Structural Engineer, Structural Engineer, Structural Design Engineer, Building Structures Design Engineer, German speaker Skills/Experience: · Minimum of 5 years’ experience · Chartered Engineer status with the IStructE or ICE · Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BSc, MSc, BEng or MEng from a UK based university or ICE / IStructE accredited course) · Excellent knowledge of Steel, Timber, Concrete and Masonry · Previous experience with RC frame design · Ability to design to British Standards and Eurocodes · Previous experience working on Residential and Commercial Design projects · Fluent in both English and German at professional business level This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89637842
