Overview

Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist looking for your next challenge within Learning Disabilities? An exciting opportunity has become available for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cygnet Cedar Vale. Cygnet Cedar Vale provides assessment and intervention for men living with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs. The team can support people who are detained under the Mental Health Act, as well as those who have behaviours perceived as challenging, or who have significant difficulties with social engagement. The Opportunity As a Consultant Psychiatrist you will have medical responsibility for clients across the service and work as part of a team to include; Allied Health Professionals, Psychology. Management and Support Workers. This is a full-time position (10 programmed activities) providing psychiatric care to Cygnet Cedar Vale Hospital with 14 adult male residents. This is high dependency complex care service for men with learning disabilities and other complex needs. The post also involves covering Toller Road, a residential service providing support for individuals with learning disability, autism and associated complex needs. In this role, you will have overall responsibility of client treatment plans, whilst liaising with the multi-disciplinary team. Duties will include; screening and assessing referrals, mental state examination of service users, appropriate investigation / diagnosis and treatment, participation in clinical audit. You will also lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management and embed clinical governance within the service. Be responsible for the supervision of reports for Mental Health Act Tribunals and managers' hearings and attend hearings whenever possible. Are You The Successful Candidate We Are Looking For? Current experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist GMC registration, Section 12 Approval and AC Status Experience of working in Adult Learning Disability / Autistic Spectrum Disorders CCT/CESR in Learning Disability is desirable Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team MRCPsych or equivalent Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management principles Proven record of Continued Professional Development (CPD) Excellent communication skills In Return, We Will Offer: Salary: up to £140,000 FTE (depending on experience) Generous annual leave entitlement which increases with length of service CPD support and study leave Contributory pension scheme Medical indemnity cover The opportunity to undertake further learning and development Relocation package will also be considered About Us Cygnet have been providing a national network of high quality specialist mental health services for over 30 years.
