Job Description

CONSULTANT IN PAEDIATRIC INTENSIVE CARE TRANSPORT Applications are invited for whole-time or part-time Consultants in Paediatric Intensive Care and Paediatric Intensive Care Transport. The successful applicant will be a highly skilled and knowledgeable paediatric intensive care doctor who is also a competent practitioner in the assessment and management in the transport of the critically ill child. Applicants should be trained in all aspects of paediatric intensive care, including emphasis on training in transport medicine. Applicants who have experience of managing service delivery and service change will be especially welcome. Applicants should already be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of the interview date have a certificate of completion of specialist training. The balance of the successful applicant's job plan between the Intensive Care Unit and the Transport Team will be negotiable, but will not be more than 50% transport. The COMET - East Midlands Paediatric Transport Service is hosted by University Hospital of Leicester, and operates from two clinical bases, one in Nottingham and one in Leicester. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team.
