This outstanding opportunity will appeal to a dynamic, senior level Programme/Project Manager with experience and expertise in marine and maritime engineering, especially within defence, naval and commercial ship build, repair, maintenance and conversion. Our client is a major force in this arena, a £140m Group, with a long-standing heritage and strong credentials in marine, nuclear, energy, renewables and defence related engineering services. The business is renowned for its world class facilities, highly skilled work force, first class customer base - which includes a long-standing and significant relationship with the UK MoD - and a superb record of quality service delivery. With a growing number of large-scale projects within its portfolio, and future expansion on the agenda, the business wishes to appoint a high calibre Programme Director (Designate) to take end-to-end responsibility for the leadership and management of a significant high profile programme. Reporting to the Managing Director and as a key member of the SLT, responsibilities are as follows:- On-going delivery and execution of a large scale, high profile programme with end-to-end accountability for project performance Leadership of the programme team with responsibility for the commercial, planning, scheduling, safety, quality and technical success of the programme Act as the primary interface with the customer, forging strong and effective key stakeholder relationships Manage and report on programme performance, ensuring lifecycle milestone communication with all key stakeholders Operate within agreed programme budgets, P&L objectives, managing and controlling costs accordingly Work collaboratively with the Group’s commercial and engineering teams, ensuring issues are dealt with and contractual obligations are met Identify and pursue follow-on business opportunities which enhance commercial value We are looking for a first-class Programme/Project Manager - with an engineering bias - ideally an accredited PM exponent (APMP/Prince2 or similar) with demonstrable expertise in a marine engineering, ship-build/repair and/or defence related setting. You may already be an experienced Programme Director/Manager or perhaps an ambitious "up and coming" PM looking for your next exciting career opportunity. Either way, your core expertise will be in leading and managing large scale programmes in a setting similar to that of the client. Commercially and financially astute and with well-honed organisational and planning skills, you will be used to frequent interaction with senior leaders and key stakeholders, utilising your strong communication, relationship building and team playing capability. Most importantly, your motivation, drive and passion for managing and delivering successful programme outcomes will win the hearts and minds of customers and colleagues alike.
