Rowan Group are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Financial Controller. We are partnering with a leading service provider in the telecommunications industry. The company is rapidly growing and being heavily invested in, bringing them into new areas throughout the UK. The company is based in Chester. It has a relaxed environment amongst a small team, a company with quite a family feel. The business is on a professionalisation journey and looking for a leader to roll up their sleeves and join them. Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller will build a suite of operational and financial KPI’s to support strategic decision making and will support the growth of business profit while recommending cost savings and business improvements. This is a great opportunity for a qualified and experienced leader, ready to roll up their sleeves and contribute to the efficient achievement of this growing business. Key responsibilities include: Responsible for all the companies finance and accounting activities including preparation of full management accounts and full year end accounts Deliver proactive treasury management, ensuring accurate cash positioning at all times including cash flow forecasting. Deliver accurate month end accounts for the business including P&L, Balance Sheet and KPI’s; and be proactive in building a robust timeframe to ensure consistency and timeliness of production. Understand the key drivers within the business and implement a suite of KPI’s and Management Information to support decision making and positively influence financial, commercial and operational efficiency. Establish yourself as a key leader, offering sound financial advice, robustly challenging where necessary and providing operational and commercially focused financial support. Contribute to the company’s strategy on pricing with supporting analysis and projections. Own the annual statutory reporting, tax computation, monthly VAT in line with required timescales. Prepare annual budgets and regular forecasts and be instrumental in overhauling and driving this process. Monitor existing financial processes and controls, seeking to develop and implement improvements across the organisation to enhance ways of working. Support and work closely with the wider business in their development of financial awareness, challenging on pricing and other commercial elements. Maintain and further develop relationships with all external stakeholders includingBanks, Auditors, Tax Advisors and Investors. Manage and develop a team of 2 Finance Assistants. The Candidate This will be a hands-on role and the Financial Controller will support the company as it continues on its journey of professionalisation. Key requirements for the incoming Financial Controller will include: Qualified accountant with a recognised professional body (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and proven experience of proving success in a similar role Experience within the telecommunications or other relevant sector would be ideal. Experience with working to strict deadlines and adhering to tight timescales. Capable of evaluating problems and delivering solutions both in finance and across other functions. Demonstrate natural leadership capabilities, evidencing soft people management skills with a collaborative mindset. Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across a broad spectrum of individuals and integrate themselves within a close-knit business. Intellectual capacity to contribute, challenge and influence at a senior level, bringing new ideas to strengthen the business. Proven experience of taking accountability for leading and delivering on projects. Strong financial control and cash management experience. Strong data management and data analysis skills. Self-sufficient and able to hit the ground running Proactive and change orientated, with the ability to use their initiative to drive continuous improvement. Ambitious and driven to forge their own career and seize the opportunity to develop over the longer term within the business. Self-starter who demonstrates a strong attention to detail.
