Overview
Chef - Health Care Background - £22k PA - 37.5 Hours We have an unique opportunity for a chef to join our team at one of our healthcare sites in Leeds. We are a company that provides a fresh food service, serving nutritionally calculated seasonal menus to 60 patients a day lunch & dinner and breakfast on a Saturday. We also provide a specialist menu to some patients which we are required to be IDDSI compatible. We provide a 2 week menu cycle specialised and nutritionally calculated using software to patient’s needs. We ensure all our food offer is consistent through recipes and training is provided throughout the brigade to ensure these are followed. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent craft skills, be flexible in their approach and have the ability to work on their own initiative. They will also have experience working in a similar environment at chef de partie/sous chef level and have some knowledge in dysphasia food. As our chef, you will need to manage your time effectively, working hands on in the kitchen in the production of all food and support managing the team in the head chef’s absence. You will need to show a care and commitment to the food production and show understanding of patients’ needs & nutrition in your work. Key responsibilities include, but is not limited to: · Support the head chef in managing and training the team of 4 (holiday cover is provided). · Support, create & develop a 2 week cycle menu that provides for breakfast, lunch & dinner. · Supply staff & ward workers a creative & flavourful food offer. · Ensuring all members of staff have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety · Ensuring that all food waste during preparation and service is kept to a minimum · Ensuring that all food being served is consistent and follows the our brand standards, whilst providing for patients requirements & needs. · Support in writing & development of recipes for the team to use. · Understanding in the IDDSI guidelines. · Willingness to support and learn the dysphasia methods, experience is not essential but would be preferred. The business is open 365 days a year so a degree of flexibility is required to cater to the needs of the business and the unit therefore bank holidays & weekends you will be required to work on a rota basis.
