We are seeking a very experienced Senior Network Administrator to take on the responsibility for supporting the University network environment. You will be joining us at a very busy and exciting time as we completely refresh our networking infrastructure. The role is responsible for managing a case load of network service incidents, works orders and standard change requests, ensuring at all times the tickets are handled correctly and the service offering is of the highest standard. The post holder will be working towards strict SLAs and OLAs and needs to be able to achieve these with little or no supervision. Where incidents have no documented workaround, they will find and document new workarounds and resolutions as well as create and maintain operational and support documentation for newly implemented or upgraded services and provide training where appropriate. This role will pro-actively contribute to the improvement of working practices and the services offered to customers as well as the development of existing systems and ensuring systems are patched and up to date. The role will provide support for data centres and networking communication rooms (both on and off premises), focusing on the physical building, room and environmental aspects. This includes power, cooling, racking and provisioning of servers, decommissioning of retired systems, cabling, patching, physical security and asset management. They will assist with ensuring the efficient day to day operation of the data centres, along with ensuring that the buildings/rooms and related equipment are fit for purpose with regards to the hosting strategy. The successful candidate will have a extensive and demonstrable experience of wired and wireless systems (specifically HPE Aruba). They will take a proactive, conscientious and thorough approach to their work. Excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus is a must. Leadership skills would be advantageous.
