Job Title: Quality Control Assistant Location: North Scarle, Lincolnshire Salary: £19,000 per annum Job type: Full time, Permanent This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented and ambitious individual looking to start a career in Quality Control to join a privately owned FMCG product manufacturer based near Lincoln. The company has a strong brand presence in the market place and a proud heritage of manufacturing world class pet food products. The Role: This role would ideally suit a science graduate with a strong interest in food science, quality and manufacturing. Previous experience of working in a quality control role with exposure to a factory & laboratory environments, product testing and auditing processes is desirable, but not essential. The main drive for the successful candidate must be the desire for excellence and to ensure that the highest possible standard of production are achieved at all times. Day to day the role will focus on monitoring and controlling the quality of finished products, as well as incoming raw materials from the factory and their in-house laboratory. This will include, but is not limited to product & paperwork inspection, sample collection, testing and record keeping. All candidates must be currently eligible to both live and work in the United Kingdom. Key Responsibilities: Run the in-house laboratory and sample store, to include stock control and ordering Conducting a range of basic, 'dry' tests on raw materials and finished products Assist with NIR testing and analysis Routine collection and preparation of raw material and finished product samples for both internal and external testing. Record and distribute results as appropriate Collect and prepare any other samples for internal or external testing in order to meet customer requirements Check delivery and production paperwork for compliance and report any discrepancies Conduct spot checks on quality control processes in the factory Collect finished product samples. Grade quality, record on the system and distribute Maintain database of raw material product specifications, MSDS, certificates of analysis and lab reports where appropriate Respond to basic product enquiries and customer complaints Process and investigate stock rejected Provide cover for the Quality Control Technician when required The Candidate: A 'completer/finisher', with a background in sales or customer service, plus: Excellent communication skills; speaking, listening and writing. Able to effectively disseminate information within the business Able to take the initiative and be both a self-starter and self-motivated Excellent IT Skills including Word, Excel and Outlook Excellent organisational skills; keeping track of information, sample results, technical data, priorities and deadlines Flexible approach to work.
