Up to £18.00 Gross per Hour. Waking Night Carer (3 Nights per Week) position available on a home care team supporting a 12-year-old boy with complex care and medical needs. Permanent contract. Yes on duty, large vehicle automatic drive Essential: Experienced waking night carer, experience supporting a younger client with an acquired brain injury Start Date: ASAP Days & Hours: 3-night shifts per week. 10.00pm to 09.00am. About this client/child: Our client Sam is 12 years old and is at the heart of a loving and supportive family; Mum, Dad, and his 3 siblings. Sam has complex care and medical needs, he has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism spectrum condition, sensory processing disorder, and a visual impairment. Sam is mobile however he uses a wheelchair at times when he experiences fatigue and requires support with transfers. Sam is a gamer; he loves to spend time on his computer and he also enjoys baking. Overview of role: Sam is reliant on others to meet all his care needs, you’ll assist with all aspects of his care plan and follow his bedtime, night and morning routine which is well established and works very well. There is a video monitor programme in place that will alert you and allow you to monitor Sam throughout the night. Sam regularly has unsettled nights; he wakes due to night terrors and can have seizures which at times will require emergency medication. Mum and Dad will train you to a high standard on how to care for Sam during the night. Who this job would suit: An experienced waking night carer with previous experience supporting a young client with an acquired brain injury.
