Overview

Country Risk Analyst / Economist Grade: AVP City: London My client, a major International Banking Group, requires a Country Risk Analyst with a focus on major European countries; to join a highly regarded function in their Country Risk Team. You will be responsible for providing timely, concise, well researched and well presented (well-argued) reports that will be used to determine corporate strategy in different business regions. You will: Have the opportunity to travel to the countries and conduct meetings, research and analysis on the ground with a network of officials, diplomats and experts (provided) Conduct analysis and have the opportunity to develop your own ratings for countries; which will be used by the Senior echelons of management when looking at macro-business strategy Have exposure to highly experienced individuals who are willing to mentor, teach and develop you through their own experiences Be expected to actively mentor more junior team members and work in a collegiate manner to enhance the betterment of the function as a whole. Challenge the business on existing strategy and spend time with the business, gaining full access to senior stakeholders. Experience (essential) Academically you will have an Economics background – this role is suited to those who have studied and enjoyed Economic Development / Economic History rather than somebody more model orientated with strong Econometrics skills and a penchant for the technical side of economics. You will have studied economic and political conditions of many of the Major and Emerging European countries and written concise reports on risk issues. Worked closely with business stakeholders and had to present your opinions and recommendations based on you analysis of sovereign risk issues You will have a passion for Economics and will continuously monitor news, rating changes and reports of European countries to keep your knowledge up to date. You will be experienced in attending meetings with external parties including rating agencies, think tanks, officials and other financial institutions to garner information and report on their views. You will have been involved in meetings to provide input to Credit Managers to set country policies. Key skills: Good communication skills - Build and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues Excellent report writing skills, particularly to write meaningful reports under tight timeframes. The ability to reach concise conclusions and convey them orally or in a written synopsis A team player with a attitude of supporting the team and eager to learn Highly organised and can work with great accuracy in an effective time management Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Strong business and work ethic - committed and dedicated at all times. Ability to manage and prioritise workloads Able to proactively look for improvement in processes and identify areas and processes that can be streamlined.
