Overview
Our audit work and audit teams are supported by the Audit Quality Team who deliver the foundations for audit quality in the form of policies, procedures, templates, guidance and training in line with the Group Mazars audit approach and relevant auditing, ethical and accounting standards. As well as delivering quality assurance support to the firm, the team also monitors audit quality on our audit files. We do this in order to comply with auditing regulations which mandate a quality monitoring programme, but more importantly we do this to ensure we have a view on our own audit quality – so we know where our strengths and weakness lie. It helps us identify and address possible failings in individual audits and our audit tools and approaches as well as feeding into our audit teams’ performance appraisals. The Position • Manage an annual review programme for all RIs and ELs to ensure it follows the agreed quality monitoring programme plan • Involvement in the development of the quality monitoring plan for audit, this will include development of new approaches and strategies to reviews • Involvement in the planning of individual file reviews, including attendance of planning and closing meetings • Leading desk top reviews on compliance areas • Undertaking file reviews focussing on areas of significant judgement/high risk for quality feedback. • Drafting firm wide findings and recommendations • Managing the Quality Monitoring follow up review process • Manage and deliver the findings from QM assurance reviews in certain sectors • Liaison with service lines around findings and actions to address Root cause analysis • Manage aspects of the RCA review programme – this will include developing the approach to the RCA, collating and reviewing data, interviews with audit teams and identifying root causes and appropriate responses Other considerations • Communication opportunities – presenting findings at meetings and in report format, as well as training situations • Interaction with our regulators and peer reviewers Personal qualities • ACA, ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with previous experience in a similar role is essential. • As well as a strong auditing technical background, we are looking for someone with a passion for quality who is keen to deliver results. • The successful candidate will be well organised, able to work to deadline and be comfortable in dealing with audit partners in discussions around review findings. A good knowledge of IT audit would be useful. • This is a new role within the firm and as such will be high profile around the firm, frequently interacting with audit teams and partners so strong interpersonal skills are essential.
