Position - Business Intelligence Developer Location - Birmingham Salary - £35,544 - £39,725pa Job type - Full time, Permanent Job Role The role of the Business Intelligence Developer is to help inform decision-making and solve business problems through extract, transform, load (ETL) techniques, by aggregating data from multiple sources into an efficient data warehouse working within enterprise-level and very large multidimensional databases. You will be technically leading the design of the data models for a data warehouse, data marts, and for the development of accurate ETL data processing which populates them from a variety of data sources. You will also play an active role partnering with the IT Development team, providing input into technical discussions, sharing knowledge and assisting in the design of data management procedures. Person Specification Have a good understanding and familiarity with the full agile software development lifecycle and different software development models; will be able to develop software using defined methods, processes and standards. Understand technical, and specifically database, architectures and will have good modelling and design skills. Have in depth experience of methods and tools relating to ETL and Microsoft SQL server data warehousing and visual business intelligence tools such as Tableau. Experience in creating data warehouse data mapping documents, database dimensional models (using dimensional modelling) and associated ETL SQL applications Have experience of tools supporting the development process including both 3rd party and in house developed utilities. This should include experience of SQL Server Management Studio, SSRS and source control. Can successfully analyse database and ETL performance issues and applied required performance tuning techniques to improve performance. Have a level of software testing experience enough to take part in test activities including test case derivation, unit testing, system testing and user acceptance test support. Experience working with key business users and IT teams to design and implement business intelligence solutions. Understanding in user requirements and needs in designing reports and dashboards if preferable but not essential. Be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, organisation, self-motivation and a desire for self-improvement.
