Scientist IV, Cell Line Development and Automation

Oxford BioMedica Limited ,
Oxford, Oxfordshire

Overview

Oxford Biomedica’s (OXB) Cell Engineering Group (CEG) is part of the Platform Research Department and its primary function is to develop stable cell lines which will ultimately be used for the production of lentiviral vectors (LVs). CEG is recruiting an experienced Cell Line Development Automation Scientist to operate OXB’s bespoke Automated Cell Screening System which enables high throughput single cell cloning and screening of new cell lines. The successful candidate will have skills and experience programming and operating automated systems for cell line development. Experience with LV production, molecular biology and data analysis would be an added advantage Within this role, your main responsibilities will be: Oversee the operation of cell line development automation and imaging systems including day to day operation and implementation of system enhancements Programming of automation systems to improve and streamline the cell line development platform Data analysis of large date sets produced using the cell line development platform and oversee the management of the SQL cell line development database Design and conduct experiments /investigations in accordance with correct methodologies and procedures under the direction of the Principal or Senior Scientists. Ensure a high standard of record keeping and documentation of experiments and investigations in order that information is clearly captured and disseminated and reported. Analyse and interpret data and present/document the results at internal meetings, client meetings and external venues such as conferences. Conduct research and technical support of the highest quality in line with role specific activities Share scientific knowledge through regular team/department meetings and presentations May be responsible for maintenance of a laboratory area and/or important equipment. Personally responsible for the completion of tasks in relation to their criticality. To be successful in this role, you will have: PhD in a relevant Biological Science preferred, but a BSc with extensive relevant experience would be considered. Experience in tissue culture and cell line development using automated systems which could include single cell printers, cell imagers and liquid handlers is essential. Skills in programming automated robotic systems. Additional molecular biology skills in plasmid cloning, qPCR, protein chemistry and/or Flow Cytometry would be desirable. Experience with SQL server databases is desirable Familiarisation with handling large data sets and databases Knowledge in Virology and Gene Therapy would be an advantage. No agencies please
