Clinical Scientist - joint post Radioisotope Physics/PHE

Job Description
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a joint post between Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) and Public Health England (PHE). You will be working half of the time in the Radioisotope Physics Group at OUH in a dynamic and friendly team of scientists and technical staff, supporting radioisotope services in Nuclear Medicine & PET/CT, Nuclear Cardiology, Oncology, etc. The team supports a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment including two PET/CT systems, two diagnostic SPECT/CT systems, four further SPECT gamma cameras including a newly installed CZT dedicated cardiac camera, and a full range of equipment supporting these services. The installations of a digital PET and a solid state gamma camera are also planned for later on in the year. As well as a wide range of diagnostic tests, the team supports a broad range of routine and advanced radionuclide therapies and provides radiation protection support to all departments using radionuclides. The Group is also involved in a large number of clinical trials and is part of a large collaborative research group with strong links to University of Oxford. The other half of the time you will be working with the Medical Exposure Group (MEG) within PHE, which provides the secretariat to the Administration of Radioactive Substances Advisory Committee (ARSAC), an expert committee of the Department of Health and Social Care. Working as a core member of the ARSAC secretariat, you will provide specialist scientific advice and support relating to the statutory ARSAC licence process in addition to organising and preparing technical papers and scientific reports required for meetings of this expert advisory committee. The secretariat supports frontline NHS services and the ability to work accurately and efficiently, keeping to Department of Health and Social Care targets is essential.
