Overview

The role Our client is a successful family office that invests globally in start up/early stage businesses on a growth trajectory. With a focus (but not restricted to) consumer brands, our client are looking for an Investment Accountant who can hit the ground running, be flexible and entrepreneurial and delivery focused. The family office take direct stakes in a variety of businesses both in the UK and internationally investing with a wide range of firms and investment managers (private equity, venture capital, hedge funds etc). The successful candidate will be able to work within a close knit, people focused team and work closely with founders, CEO’s and investment professionals. The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience of performing valuations and have advanced financial modelling skills. You will ideally come from a corporate finance or transactions services background or a buy side fund accounting role. Role Summary Provide expertise in all areas to support the investment activities of the group, including financial due diligence on potential investments and accounting guidance for current investee businesses. Perform detailed valuations and financial modelling on potential and existing portfolio companies Lead a small team and be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations Provide support for the execution, monitoring and administration of funds deployed with third party fund managers or in other investments. Be the link between head office and the financial accounting and consolidation teams based in the subsidiaries. Lead all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and support the production of investment committee and board papers, management accounts and analyses. Constant review of finance processes and systems - constantly delivering process improvements/ project delivery (new systems implementations etc) Prepare annual budget and forecast and prepare quarterly management company performances (budget vs actual). Ownership of bespoke investment analytics platform and dashboard. Expert of accounting for alternative assets including private equity, venture capital and managed funds ( advising on UK GAAP and IFRS accounting treatments). Lead the investment division’s statutory audit, including group and smaller subsidiaries/entities. Candidate Requirements: Qualified Accountant (or overseas equivalent) ideally with 5 years’ post qualification experience and first time exam passes. Direct experience-performing valuations/ advanced financial modelling skills. Advanced understanding of MS O?ce applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook) Technically strong accounting knowledge Corporate finance or transactions services experience (big 4 ideally) or senior buyside fund accounting exposure Private equity or venture capital industry exposure would be an advantage SAP, Business Warehouse, Hyperion and PowerBI would be useful
