Technical Operator, Waste Water, Immediate start, £15.23 per hour, Cardiff. Shift pattern, 4 on 4 off 7am-7pm Your new company A nationally recognised, multi-award winning utilities company based out the outskirts of Cardiff. Your new role Job duties Working a a Technical Operator you will have primary responsibility for operation and maintenance of sludge screening, sludge imports, centrifuges, odour control, Cambi™ process, water treatment, steam boilers, CHP and Gas to Grid plant, digestion process, return liquor treatment, thermally hydrolysed sludge dewatering and sludge export. be expected to participate in a shift pattern of working 4 days on and then 4 days off each comprising of 12 hour working across 7 days per week. demonstrate ownership of process problems & manage the decision making process outside of the conventional working day. Initially this role will be working in conjunction with our capital partners and their suppliers during construction and commissioning of the plant. Completion of all required training will also need be completed during this period before the plant is fully operational. Principal Accountabilities You will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and monitoring of all operational processes associated with sludge treatment including sludge screening, sludge imports, centrifuges, odour control, Cambi™ process, water treatment, steam boilers, CHP and Gas to Grid plant, digestion process, return liquor treatment, thermally hydrolysed sludge dewatering and sludge export This will also include shadowing and assisting external maintenance engineers. Proactively carry out planned maintenance and operational checks to time and required standards. Undertake sampling of all processes as per instructions and record any analysis in the site log. Manage sludge stocks ensuring that there is capacity for adequately desludging the WWTW. Liaise with the Waste Services Controller and import / export contractors as necessary and manage the dewatered sludge bays and sludge cake storage building. Monitor and seek to maximise performance of CHPs and gas exports, liaising closely with the Energy Team and maintenance providers. Actively take part in risk assessments, COSHH assessments and all health and safety issues. Advanced Digestion Technical Operator Identify problematic plant and the subsequent faults, rectify where possible and escalate to Operations Supervisor as appropriate. Monitor SCADA alarms and take required action to reduce plant failures and achieve optimisation of plant Follow and comply with all QMS procedures relating to the plant including all record keeping and sampling to demonstrate HACCP compliance. Successful applicants may be required to travel to other sites due to operation need or for training, so a full UK driving licence is essential. What you'll need to succeed You will have a background in a similar process driven, operative role. Any experience of working with effluent or within water industry is highly desirable, but not essential. This role is a temporary role to start immediately, it will be on a month by month basis. Please note due to the working environment you will be working in and around pungent smells. A criminal record check will be completed as part of the on-boarding process. What you'll get in return Hourly rate for the role is £15.23 per hour. This is a temporary role to start immediately. There is chance that this role could be extended. Full training will provided. Please note - you will need to have a clean driving licence, as you may be required to sue a company van on occasion.
