Overview
My client, a North East based growing business, seeks a Head of Legal to establish an in-house legal offering. The organisation is looking for a go-getting and commercially focused lawyer to work closely with the Management Team, providing strategic advice and ensuring a robust approach to governance and compliance. You will have a background in commercial contracts or corporate and will enjoy a wide-ranging role, establishing the in-house legal offering which will include general contract management, drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements and giving general advice on additional areas such as regulatory, procurement, employment, corporate and litigation. You will also manage the relationship with external counsel, especially in relation to acquisitions. Suitable candidates will have a minimum of 6 years PQE (to more senior) and will have a strong track record in giving clear commercial legal advice. Lawyers coming from a private practice background will be of equal interest as those already in-house. Experience advising development and manufacturing businesses would be of particular interest, but is not essential. You should be a strong communicator, very commercially aware and solutions focused. You should also possess strong influencing skills and be able to promote recommendations to all levels of the business.
